Morning sunshine gleming through the light and white clouds. Melting ice-creame in the summer drippy and sticky on your hands. Enjoying camping on the mountain with a grassy hot surface. In the holiday we went fishing at Maketu beach. I went fishing with my Koro my Koro love's to go fishing. We only went fishing because it was the perfect day. When my Koro picked me up we got our fishing gears ready like our fishing rod's and the bait.

When we arrived at Maketu beach , we got our fishing rod's. Then my Koro and I put bait on our rod's. Then we swung our rod's out and waited for a tug. 10 minute's later I looked at the tip of my rod I stared at it for 2 minute's tug tug tug tug !I saw the tug so I reeled it in and to my amazment hooked on it was a king fish.
I was Excited.

Take a look because this is the last thing you'll see before you go into hospital. Thinking and dreaming about this disgusting meal will make you sick! It has worms, cockroaches, used plasters, mould , soap, nose, toenails, armpet hairs, pork fat, a mouse, chopped fingers, brains, smelly socks, 1000,000 year old cheese, ear wax for the drink, eye balls and again used plasters.

When I looked at it I felt like I couldn't move. I was shocked. It felt like there was an earthquake inside me. As I walked slowly to the table I felt hungry but I never thaught I would come against this before. I felt blue. My mum was smiled when she saw me looking really ill.

One night I got dropped off at my auntie's . She said' Have you had dinner' I answered 'no'.So I played with my cousin until my auntie said 'dinner's up'. As we approached the kitchen it smelt yummier and yummier. It smelt like I was going to get spoilt why because it smelt like Ice cream and lollie's but my auntie wasn't that nice. But when we got served Iran to the toilet and spewed. He got up straight away, We packed our rods and drove off to a place called Ohiwa. We also took my uncle and my Cousins friend, When we got to Ohiwa we unpacked the car and carried all our things onto the jeti. We all untangled our lines and casted our lines out. We all felt a tug but we caught NO FISH!. We saw another man catch a huge COD fish about 50 inches long and 67 POUNDS!!!

My Holiday in Aussie By Zainey

In the holidays my sister and I went to Sydney Australia. My dad took jasmine and I to Darling Harbour and Circerla quay. The main reason why we go to Australia is to see my dad. We only get to see him in the holidays. While I was there I went to Gunnamatta bay which is on the other side of Crunella beach. I went there with my cousins Shea, Nikita, Kasey and my sister. the water was very salty but cold. Almost everyday we were their we took a bus then a train the walk down a hill to my auntys house. the only reason why we went there was because my dad had to go to work then pick us up after.

M: mmmmm........ ! drinking hot chocolate is my favourite thing to do on a cold autumn day.

Literacy observation

Mrs Owen observed Matua today using the 'We are learning to...' (WALTS - also known as learning intentions) and success criteria (SC) with one of the reading groups. The focus was to get the students to share a 'recount' as part of a guided reading lesson. This lesson however, targeted the group to write a recount (only the introduction). Exemplars and examples were used to help the students. Mrs Owen then interviewed four students from the group. Take a peek at the video to see the lesson and to hear the selected students responses at the interview. The next step is for Mrs Owen to observe and video a guided reading lesson where 'recount' will be the focus using once again the WALTs and SC.

SOLO Taxonomy - using define maps

The students in A2 used defined maps to define what 'respect' meant. This was part of the 'Identity' unit. It was the first time Matua George had used define maps on the SOLO rubric. We discovered that most of the students identified themselves in the 'relational' stage of the rubric. Some students were able to extend their thinking hats into the extended abstract stage but only on a surface level. The next step is to push further up the rubric to understand and use the 'extended abstract' rubric using prediction maps and other maps at this stage. This will be the focus in week 11.

Safety Cycle Week

Last week the Totara students had a wonderful time learning the safety precautions and correct methods on how to keep themselves safe on the roads. This included looking closely at the functions of a bicycle ensuring that all it's parts were in good working order. The students were also shown how to check their helmets before and after putting it on. This was followed with lots of fun activities such as scooting the bicycle with one leg to riding in a straight line between coloured cones. Road safety codes were also demonstrated to the students. The two instructors did a marvellous job teaching all the students in the Totara team about cycle safety. :-)
